[JC36]
Office Building. Madrid, Spain
This project can be found in a once-industrial area of Madrid that is now undergoing a transformation into a tertiary zone dedicated to research and development technologies.
'JC36' is a 5-storey, L-shaped office building, allowing for 1 or 2 tenants per floor, articulated around a central elevator lobby, technical and bathroom spaces and orientated towards the interior garden its implantation configures. It is a compact block, poised on a base that is open towards the street and interior garden and opaque around the elevator lobby and entrance. The building’s north curtain wall façade facing the main street is folded inwards at its equator, creating a play of lines and reflections and giving a new rhythm to the street. The demolition phase was completed at the beginning of the year and the site will be fully prepared for construction by mid-June 2010. The project will be seeking a BREEAM sustainability classification of ´very good´.

Located in the heart of the capital city of Madrid, the building at Castellana 36-38 is currently undergoing a deep metamorphosis of its interiors and facades.
This rehabilitation project for Mutua Madrileña´s iconic office building on the Paseo de Castellana in Madrid is to include a total interior redesign as well as significant changes to the façade- IAD's design team is currently working on a number of impacting proposals. The project´s first phase was completed in October 2009, transforming the entrance hall and the building´s common areas. The principal concept for the interior design was the communication of clean functional planning through the use of contrasts.
